I'm having this odd desire to use purples in my pieces and I don't even like purple. I'm wondering if that's only because I'm trying to find the perfect (best?) combination for blue.
Blue has been my go-to color for a while, there's just something so familiar and beautiful about it. There's no wrong way of throwing it on paper. Red, green, black, yellow– exactly!
I also went out to buy some more papers for this (and the next) month’s pieces. This month I'll be experimenting with 140lb, hot press finish watercolor paper. But we're not off to a great start since I'm so used to the cold press finish. The paint really glides on and I might just be too savage for the non-obstructive finish.
There's this little shop on NW 7th street and 27 ave that is just perfect. I went in there and two hours later I was still uncertain of which shade of blue to take home. I went in with a $50 budget and surely that went out the window (and I was even forced to leave the yellow paint.) Sixty three dollars later (mind you I saved over $30 because the cashier was wonderful enough to give me a discount) I was feeling pretty fucking legit. I even bought some liquid masque that gave me a mini heart attack thinking I ruined one of my favorite brushes during application.
Overall, pretty productive Sunday. Exactly how Sundays should be, productive without feeling like so.
