July, where did you go?!
I can't believe that I'm about a month away from starting school. It's been a process that started almost nine months ago by a whim trip to St. Augustine back in October. It still amazes me how utterly random and organic this whole journey evolved but I can't imagine it happening any other way. Even now, as I sit on my front porch and write this, I have the urge to pinch myself because it all seems so surreal. For a girl who's fantasized about living on her own since the age of 16, I still can't believe it finally happened. I am beyond grateful for all the unexpected people and situations that made this possible. I never thought, not even in my wildest dreams, that I'd be calling St. Augustine my home, but lo and behold, it is!
This will take some getting used to. I'll be wearing many hats in the upcoming years: full-time student, full-time worker, part-time artist, full-time lover, full-time dreamer... The list is endless. But I can't say I'd wish for it to be any other way. It's overwhelming, but life is overwhelming. That's the beauty of it.
I'm ready for the challenge.
PS: I added this month's collection (only 5 pieces) to the "Work" tab, under July and will be posting on instagram @stoned_handmade!
PPS: All of July's pieces were done on paper made out of the Daphne "Lokta" plant's bark. Lokta is the local name for a plant that grows abundantly in Nepal at altitudes over 6500 ft. Removing only the bark of the plant is actually beneficial to it and harvesters make sure to perform controlled harvests to ensure sustainability.
